CCC Skywatchers

Meets monthly at the CCCIA

CCC Skywatchers is an enthusiastic group of mountain dwellers who are dedicated to bringing together people of all ages who are interested in astronomy, space exploration and viewing the wonders of the night sky through telescopes, binoculars and by naked eye. Our Skywatchers meetings feature presentations about astronomy and space exploration, followed by telescope viewing, when weather permits. $5 suggested donation per adult.

Homesteaders’ Club

Meets the 2nd Thursday of the month (see the event page)
CCCIA Hall at 7 pm

The Homesteaders’ Club is a gathering of individuals interested in topics like canning, gardening, bee-keeping, crafts, home projects, and more. Each meeting consists of a member-led class and group discussion of relevant topics. We’re always looking for new members to add to our group knowledge. Armchair Travelogues

Armchair Travelogues are presentations by Canyon locals who are eager to share their travels all over the world. With engaging stories, vibrant photos, and plenty of opportunities for questions, Armchair Travelogues can help satisfy your wanderlust without ever leaving the Canyon. Past presentations have featured Morocco, Botswana, Japan, and a voyage around the world on Semester at Sea. We’re always looking for new presenters, so if you have a trip you’d like to share, let us know! $5 suggested donation per adult.

Watercolor Painting Classes with Kathy Bremers

Weekly classes on Thursdays
9:30 – noon at the CCCIA Hall

All levels of painters are welcome! Beginning and intermediate painters will be introduced to watercolor technique and guided in composition in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. For the advanced painter, it is an opportunity to paint with other artists and benefit from group critique. For more information, contact Kathy at 303-815-3255. Pre-registration is not required but encouraged. Painters bring their own supplies. $15 per session.

Outdoor Recreation Club

Group hikes organized year round

The Outdoor Recreation Club seeks out hiking opportunities in areas surrounding CCC. With outings to Golden Gate State Park, Gross Dam Reservoir, and more, you’ll join a fun group of people as you explore the outdoors. Trips are organized year round, with snowshoeing treks in the winter.

Several times a year, Park & Rec is happy to organize and offer dances, community gatherings, storytelling events, and more. Mountain Fest, our annual summer fundraiser, is always a great time, with a Mountain Obstacle Course, a Canyon Cookoff, and more. Got an idea for a fun, community-oriented event? Let us know! We’re always looking for new ways to serve the residents of the District.
